The Bear and the Bee’s
2019 Bear and the Bees Reserve Cabernet
Vintage Notes:
The 2019 Bear and the Bees is a wine that elicits beautifully both the elegance of the 2019 vintage in Napa Valley, and the intensity and sophistication of Kelly Fleming Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 vintage was a wonderfully balanced season that provided a long and slow maturation in the vineyard, allowing flavors and tannins to develop naturally at an even pace.
Tasting Notes:
The aromatics of this wine are quintessential Simmons Canyon, brimming with sweet notes of ripe black cherry and dark chocolate cocoa powder, seamlessly intertwined with bay laurel, juniper berry and crushed autumn leaves. The wine is smooth and velvety on entry, enticing the palate with notes of milk chocolate, black licorice and tinged around the edges with a red berry sweetness and warm citrus spice. Beauty and complexity give way to focus and precision, as the perfectly ripe tannins provide definition and finesse to the dark fruity core. This dark cassis character lingers on the palate alongside a whisper of graphite minerality, creating a long-lasting, elegant finish. This wine is beautiful and complex and is a tremendous expression of Kelly Fleming’s distinctive terroir in the hills of Calistoga.
