2020 Glass Fire
Kelly’s winery was impacted by one of the most historic events to take place in the Napa Valley, when the Glass Fire ravaged both Napa and Sonoma counties, beginning September 27, 2020. It burned approximately 67,000 acres and destroyed many wineries and homes. Because of the winery’s stone façade, tile roof and arid landscaping, the buildings survived the fire. Because donkeys and goats grazed the open pastures around the winery, only the grass was lost, not the native oaks.
The Glass Fire was an enormous marker for the property, yet today Simmons Canyon is full of green growth and the signs of new life, a great sign for the future.
